Instead of permanently being lost in your ego and pain, take the high road as you say. Climb on to the highest point of your consciousness and assess the situation from a more distant neutral place. 

Karma, or energetic debt, is something you can carry with you from incarnation to incarnation. Since karma is energy, it can be repaid and neutralised in a variety of ways, it can take many different forms.

Your Guidance comes from a higher perspective, and it aims to make sure that you fulfil the important tasks, contracts and learn the lessons you came here for.

A Higher Self can be inter-dimensional, but it can also have a main focus in one particular dimension such as the fourth dimension here on Gaia. It can have multiple intergalactic incarnations even interdimensional incarnations.
